Back in WY - Happy Father's Day - WET spring
I've been trying to post...I know it's been longer than a month...but now my photos wont upload anymore. I have so many pictures that I'm going to have to post in several different posts. These first pics (minus a few hopefully to post next post) are from AZ right before we left. Laney is riding bareback by herself on River, and both girls are riding so good. Laney is 5 going on 26...and Tana had turned into a little girl, sort of lost her 'baby'ness.
We have had TONS of rain...so much so it's the 14th of July today and we are just now putting out our flood irrigation pipe.
This is the summer of major change for us. We are handing over the feedlot to some fellow cattle feeders to run and operate hopefully, from now on. We still own it, but are trying to help them get bigger, and trying to help us get a little smaller. We gave up our Laramie grass ranch lease, we gave up our Nichols ranch grass lease, and we are relinquishing our Mead ranch grass lease. A lot of chapters closing in our lives this summer for sure.
As some of you know already, we came back to WY to a house full of mold in the basement. UGH, so we bought a camper, parked it in the horse barn, and have been moving out of "moldy house" as we now call it. We bought an old Mayflower moving trailer, filled it full of what we wanted in a new house (not sure about where that is just yet lol) and sold the rest in a very successful garage sale this last Saturday. It felt good to purge the items that both of us had just stored to deal with at a later date. We hopefully will figure out the house dilemma soon. We are either going to build on the grass pivots, or maybe possibly get a dry grass ranch bought north of Torrington that would already have a house on it. Not sure when all of this will actually finalize.
We lost one of our kitties this Saturday. Most of you had met Woody :( We are so sad about our little friend. He has worn out most of his 9 lives, I know, but what an awesome little friend he was. We don't really know what happened. I moved them from 'moldy house' up to the horse barn on Monday, and he was off I thought. Sunday he seemed just a little off and a bit lethargic. He made the move, seemed lovey and tired...mind you it was also super hot, so I thought he might just be hot, although I felt something was wrong, it just didn't seem urgent. Well, Saturday morning he was dead in the barn, just laying there :( The only thing that makes sense is that he must have eaten something that poisoned him slowly...ate a bird or mouse that had been poisoned. :( It was so awful to find him, so bummed. We loved our little Woody, and he will live on in our hearts as one of the best we have ever known!
