Both girls are riding alone! Laney is trotting and loping alone! Happy Easter!
Finally...I've been working on trying to get these pictures uploaded and this blog posted for a week. My computer has been giving me trouble...now on the new computer I bought but don't like but I'm dealing with the new features. I haven't posted in over a month...that may be my new goal, once a month :) that way I'm not a slacker. I'm still taking lots of pics, just not posting as much.
There has been a lot of roping and riding going on here. Laney went from "please walk next to me" to BRAVE, overnight! Now it's mom, dad, can I trot, lope, ride bareback!!!?!?!?! She does great! She even trots after the roping dummy swinging her imaginary rope...only roping the ground dummy at this point with her actual rope. I've got to be honest, it took me at least a week to enjoy her trotting and loping. I mostly had mild anxiety attacks and found myself cringing and clenching the whole time. I'm slightly more relaxed...I'm working on that. Tana is also riding by herself at a walk for just a little bit...she trots when one of us is holding onto Sis. She wants to constantly ride by herself "mom don't hold onto Sis, I've got her." But Sis has had a few funny scoot her butt kinda moments that I don't like, so until she is stronger and can steer her better I'm holding on. She is doing great too. She is such a natural with her rope too, her hand-eye coordination is a little advanced I think. She isn't wanting to take a lot of instruction at this point "I can do it, I'm fine." But can coil up her rope and build a loop and rope her little red steer dummy pretty much without any help at all. Her soccer skills are a little crazy too...just sayin...she's been dribbling the "horse ball" all over the arena with her shins and feet like it's nothing. Just trots all around kicking that ball and can control where it goes...full contact of course :)
Laney the other day had rode River so long that River rested her chin on the tie bar and closed her eyes while I unsaddled her. So the next day, Laney chased the roping toy for over a half an hour solid, River was breathing pretty hard. Scott told her in a very nice voice that she probably should quit riding River because she was pretty tired. Laney about burst into tears because she wasn't done riding...so she asked "what about Sis, can I ride her?" So I saddled Sis...pretty soon she'll warm all the horses up for me and Scott :)
We had a fun Easter, Scott had just gotten back here to AZ that morning so he took a very long nap after church. It was nice to have him back.
Grandpa Terry and Grandma Judy came by for a 2 day visit. It was really a wonderful visit and the girls had a blast. They have two little old dogs, Foxy and Bob the pug...Bob was super funny and the girls walked those dogs all over the place. Really nice to have them come.
The girls are wrapping up their year at ballet, their performance is this coming week so I'll post those pics and video next time. They have both really improved and enjoyed ballet. Laney wants to learn more so we are moving her up a level next fall so she's with kids that are all 5. Then Tana will be with all the other 3 and 4 year olds again.
We are headed back to WY soon. I'll post again before we go. We will take off when Laney's school gets out which is the 21st of May, somewhere around then we will head back north. This winter has been the most enjoyable winter. We've loved the weather, the roping, the family together time, the hot tub, and the relaxing life. This has been one of the best decisions we've made. Life is really sweet and we are so blessed.
