Happy Birthday Al...oh dear

What a week. We got our field here at the house plowed and planted in corn. Beautiful site, I love the freshly plowed ground. We also finished cutting and started baling the hay at the grass pivots, SO many bales...we calculated out almost 2 years worth if we were to use it all for the horses. It'll go quickly though when we start to wean calves, we will use that in our starter ration and those little calves will love it. The week got rough though...Thursday one of the farmers plowing our field was driving out in his pickup and ran over and killed Biscuit, one of the puppies. :( It was terrible...so awful. It happened right in front of me, just gutting. Then to top it off, the guy just shows no emotion at all, cold as an ice cube! I'm crying, watching her gasp for her last breath, blood pouring out her face (sorry to be so graphic) and he just doesn't even care, just stands there. It was seriously horrible. I cried all night. But I have a wonderful husband and kids that helped me with my hurt. Tana saw it happen...didn't understand what was happening, thankfully, and Laney wasn't here at all, she was with Scott. So at least I got to bare that burden alone, although that sucked too. Laney brought me roses to make me feel better, and of course is asking every detailed question about the entire incident. Somehow I was able to have a happy birthday. Scott and the girls took me out for breakfast. Tana wanted some of my water, I said "two hands" just in time for her to grab it with one hand and spill it all over...Laney calmly says "Mom didn't need that today, child." That made me smile so much, she's so funny. We didn't do anything at all really all day. We were going to go rope, but I didn't really feel up to it, then we woke up to rain, with 40 mile an hour winds to follow, so Scott and I went to dinner and had a really nice time. I'm still bummed, but grimly, life goes on. Happiness still happens in the midst of pain. Pain is inevitable, it just cycles in and out, we've just got to pick up the pieces and be thankful for the blessings that we do have. I have a wonderful husband, two beautiful smart, healthy daughters, a fleet of awesome dogs, a full arsenal of horses that amaze me with their talent. I have air in my lungs, and another birthday! YIPPEE! ...and an amazing Savior, Jesus, who loves me. Life is good.
