Tana 11 months; Happy Halloween

Busy week! Tana is inching closer to her first birthday, which doesn't even seem possible, and Laney is singing everyone happy birthday. "Happy birthday, Laney, happy birthday, Tana, happy birthday Mommy, happy birthday, Daddy...". We gathered the rest of the calves off of the ranch we were at last week, Tana drove. She's just growing up so fast! She is starting to use a spoon and fork already to try and eat...she isn't the most successful at the stabbing the food part, so sometimes she just picks the food up and puts it on the fork or spoon before she eats it :) Her hand-eye coordination is really crazy good. I find myself surprised a lot at how accurate she is with things. Our neighbor has an older toy that is a boat with 4 balls that fit into holes on the top, all different colors, with a hammer that you hit the balls with. The balls go down the hole and then roll out and around on this ramp. Well Tana LOVES this toy. You barely get the balls on there and she's whacking them with the hammer. It takes her one whack on each ball...one...she never misses...then she leans over to watch the ball roll on the inside part of the boat through the little hole she just hammered it through, then puts her hand out on the ramp and catches it as it rolls from the inside part to the outside part, then puts it back in the hole again. When I first saw her do this, I was shocked and said "oh my, look at you, good job"...she seriously gave me this look as if to say "mom, seriously, this is so elementary, it's no big deal." Halloween was pretty fun this year. Tana was a bumble bee and Laney a purple kitty. One of Laney's favorite books is "Brown Bear, Brown Bear, What do you see?" well there is a purple cat in there...so I made her some ears and a tail. On the way to go to town to trick-or-treat she says "Mom, I don't have any whiskers. Max has whiskers. Buzz has whiskers. Woody has whiskers. Nokie has whiskers. Not me." I try not to laugh...but can't help myself. We didn't carve our pumpkins this year, Laney wanted them to be like "Mr Tato head" so there you go...she picked the parts, I stuck them in...it was the easiest pumpkin carving ever. When we were picking out the pumpkins, Laney first picked out the big one. Then she said "mom, let's get a baby pumpkin for Tana." So then I asked her if she wanted a baby pumpkin too and she answered, "no, mom, I don't." This has nothing to do with Halloween, but I let Laney pick how she wants her eggs cooked and she answers me "it doesn't matter, Mom, you're a good cooker." :) We took a quick trip to Mor Mor and Papa's...when we drove down the roads were totally clear, no snow in sight. Then overnight it snowed tons, almost 10" so Laney enjoyed playing in the snow.
