Corn Silage Harvest

We started and finished chopping corn silage this week...a first for us to start and not break down with 100 repairs! Although the first day we had to change a roller inside the chopper. Those are the pictures of everyone standing by the chopper and Laney in the middle of them, she was telling them what needed fixed. The dog is one of our employees dogs, Gus, and he is really a funny little character. He was eating the corn cobs out of the chopper header while they where fixing it...but he bit off the kernels and left the cob...too funny. I cooked lunch every day for the crew, which they loved, and one day when I had to go get more supplies, Laney, Tana, and I stopped and ate lunch in a park. There was a little squirrel who came right over to where we were sitting, Laney chased it all over because she wanted to "hold 'em"...She never caught him...although it wasn't for a lack of trying. She even tried to climb the tree to get him. Tana and Laney both enjoyed the swings too. I put Laney is her swing and Tana was still in my carrier, but she watched Laney and just laughed and laughed while Laney swung. So after I gave Laney a couple big pushes I went over and put Tana in a swing. By the time I got her in there, Laney was wanting to go higher, so I barely got Tana swinging and went over to push Laney. Tana was so funny, she grabbed the edge of the swing and started to bob her little head and kick her little legs...she got the swing to move a little...then she just would laugh. It was so cute, wish I would of had the video camera. We all have been up at the new barn/shop every night trying to get the water lines dug and installed, so Laney plays on the 4-wheeler. She is a little acrobat. It has been cooler, more like fall this last week...now it's cold. Not winter, but we've had two cold drizzly days. I don't mean to end on a sad note, but we lost yet another good friend this week. Monday we lost our horse Crash. Crash and Scott had been roping buddies for a long time. Scott had him 12 or 13 years. He won his first saddle, team roping on Crash. He tied his first calf in 7 seconds on Crash. They went a lot of miles and roped a lot of calves and steers together. We will really miss him...such a huge hole...what a summer...Love you Crash, we will miss you buddy, kisses on your nose, hugs around your neck.
