"chin up chin up"

We got the third group of pairs gathered and calves shipped home to the feedlot this week, one more ranch to go. Laney is saying some really funny stuff, as always, but so matter of fact. I'm taking some braids out of Laney's hair the other day and have to use the nail clippers because I couldn't get ahold of the little rubber band. She says to me in this really calm, cool manner, "try not to rip my hair out, mom." A slight pause...then she says "try not to cut yourself, mom." She is so funny. She is singing a lot, she still loves the 'bare necessities' song from the jungle book, she sings "I mean the bare necessities, forget about your worries and your stripes, I mean the bare necessities..." and just repeats it again and again. Then she sings the songs from the old original Charlotte's Web. "chin up, chin up, everybody up, chin up, chin up." Or "There must be something more to nothing." None of which are the right words in the right order, but it all makes me laugh. Tana is letting go a lot and stands for awhile before sitting or grabbing on to something. She wants to do everything by herself. She has also started trying to bite anybody who does something to her that she doesn't like. When Laney takes a toy from her, she just opens her mouth and tries to get ahold of any part of her. She tried to bite my hand the other day when I found her eating paper and had to scoop it out of her mouth, she gets mad, grabs my hand, and tries to bite it. Not so great. Other than that, she is so happy and adorable. Her hand-eye coordination is really good. She loves putting the baby doll bottle in and out of the baby's mouth and she gets it directly into her mouth every time. She likes putting things in a bag, taking them back out, putting them back in...she is just very accurate when she tries to put anything where she wants it. She still dances constantly. She has this little side-to-side sway that is so cute, and she does the upper body twist all the time. She said 'cat' the other day. But only said it once. She still mostly just says "mama mom mom mom" or "da da da" or "baa" or "oooo"
