Fall Gathering Begins

We started to gather and move cows to their final pastures this week. Next week we will start gathering another ranch and begin weaning and shipping calves home to the feedlot. This week we were west of Laramie almost to Rock River moving some of our pairs from the hills down onto the hay meadows. It was a crisp, cool day that turned out to be about 72 degrees. It was really beautiful. Laney rode her horse, Sis, the entire time. Tana and I drove the buggy and tried to capture it all on camera. We started about 9 am and finished up about 1:30. We probably covered about 4 1/2 to 5 miles. I thought Laney might get tired and want to ride in the buggy after awhile...nope, she wanted to be right by daddy's side. Newt worked for the first time since the accident other than some little trial runs at the feedlot, and he is working better than ever. He rode on the buggy here and there when the cattle would get going, to rest when he got tired, but he would jump out when he heard anyone whistle at one. It was a really fun day. The cows and calves were happy to see those lush hay meadows too. Uncle Scott, Aunt Diana, Lilia and Grant came to visit when we got home, so more pictures on their visit next week. Mor Mor and Papa came up last Friday night and Saturday for a short visit too. We had a great time catching up. As always, Laney is changing so much and making us laugh all the while. She has quite the sense of humor and jokes with all our help. Tana is as sweet as ever, such a little snuggler. She loved riding in the buggy for the gathering, she kept squealing as loud as she could when she would see Laney on her horse. The night before when we got to Laramie, Tana and Laney were having crawling races back and forth, the giggles and the squeals of joy were making me laugh so hard. We had a great time, hope you guys like the pictures.
