Tana is 6 months old!
Tana turned 6 months old this week, unbelievable how fast that has gone. I know I write these weekly, but it just doesn't seem possible that 6 months has passed. Tana is babbling now, "dadadaadaayayaababaa" or something of that nature has started streaming out. She is turning the pages of a book, very accurately. She grabs a page with her right hand, passes it to her left hand, opens it all the way to the left, then gets another page...I'm trying to get it on video because I think it's quite remarkable how accurate she is at grabbing just one page at a time, and she keeps turning pages for as many pages are in the book. She at times will pause, and close the book on her own hand, look and observe the cover for a minute, as if to remember what she is reading, then opens the book back up to the page she was on and continues to turn each page. When she gets to the last page she closes the book, looks at the back cover, then turns it over looks at the front cover, then tries to eat it :) She already loves being read to. She gets very excited and her face lights up, her lips get stiff and stick out, and she grabs at the pages. She will sit and listen as I read to Laney and not get bored for a long time. Tana is growing like a weed. She's in 12 month sized clothes if they are one piece, and she is still able to wear some 9 month sized dresses. But I almost got her stuck in a 6 month sized dress the other day...oops...good thing she was laughing. Speaking of growing, Laney is so tall. She is in 3T for length but the waist is too big...the fact that she's obsessed with her pink and now "blue princess dress" she's able to, and is, keeping clothes on these days...well most of the time anyway. Laney is saying some of the funniest things these days. The other day she got the hiccups and said "I'm doing some hiccups". We say prayers every night before she goes to bed and the prayer we always say is the "Now I lay me down to sleep..." one. Well she knows most of the words, kind of...at least the sound of the words. Sometimes she says words that sound like the real words but they're not the right words. She gets going too fast and sometimes forgets where she's at, so she fills in with "simple bear necessities"...I got to giggling so hard last night I couldn't help her with the right words...then she ends with "old man" and I'm done...I just can't talk anymore, so it's usually a big hug and kiss and goodnight at that point. They are both so much fun. Laney is in such a world of discovery now, imagining all sorts of things. She likes to "make cocoa" out of water or mud. Tonight she was stabbing a grapefruit with a screw driver (pics next time) and talking about how she was "cutting it up for a party in Colorado"...not sure all of where it comes from...the beauty of imagination. She's outside, usually in the mud, almost all day every day. And it's finally warm! It's been beautiful yesterday and today, it finally feels like summer.
