"yeah ok"

This week we had a couple of really cold days. Uncle Volk came up for the weekend and helped Scott check heifers in the middle of the night. There was a couple nights where it was 15 below, so my mudroom became a calf warming station. Scott and Uncle Volk would bring them in and lay them on the dog beds, turn on the propane heater and dry them up. Laney had such a good time talking to the calves...she would lean over and say "hi baby calf" as she would scratch them and poke at their hooves. Tana didn't notice the calves so much :) but she is getting so many expressions. She is sooo happy, she smiles and laughs with that hiccup sounding laugh, it's so cute. Laney still doesn't want to share her potty, but Tana is doing so good pottying. We catch almost every poop in the potty! If you ask her if she has to go potty, she smiles so big, it's so awesome. Laney's favorite expression is "yeah ok." She'll ask herself a question and answer herself "yeah ok." Last night after we were done eating I was cleaning up the dishes when I saw Laney drag a chair over to the counter. She crawled up on the chair, picked up a pair of tongs, and starting stirring in the bowl of food. I asked her what she was doing and she answered "just cooking." :)

"No Tana have a potty, no, no"

I know I just blogged 3 days ago :) but I thought I'd try and get back on schedule...plus I'm experiencing a rare moment of some spare time...I know it, that's why I'm taking advantage of it :) Tana, as you can see, is full of smiles, she's gurgling, and gooing, she's so cute! She is such a happy baby, loves the water still, loves her swing, and loves watching her big sister. Laney is still so possessive of her potty! If I even walk toward the bathroom carrying Tana, she runs ahead of me saying "no Tana have a potty, no, no, mommy, no Tana, Laney's potty." Then she either sits on the potty and goes, or now she's taking the padded potty seat off, closing the lid on the toilet, then crawling up and sitting on the lid. She's so bad ;) It's really kind of funny, I laugh...sometimes. Laney helped me make Scott a birthday cake today for his birthday. I was trying, unsuccessfully, to write Happy B-day in chocolate chips on his cake...it just looks like a bunch of chocolate chips on there...but Laney tried to help me. She kept poking her finger in the frosting and licking her fingers, then she'd say, "that's delicious"...she's a piece of work. A cute piece of work :) She has been singing "happy birthday daddy" all day in this high pitched tiny voice, it's hysterical. Day-by-day she gets more and more "little girl" and less baby. The weather has really been warm and nice the last few days so I've been taking the girls on walks again. Tana loves the baby carrier, but she has to face out! She likes facing me too, but definitely prefers to face out so she can watch everything that's happening. Tana has now noticed the little hanging friends on her play mat and vibrator chair. She laughs at them, smiles and flirts with them...it's so cute how genuine her reaction to them is, she is so happy to see them. Laney saw a baby calf being born yesterday. Our heifers started calving early while we were still in Florida, but a lot of them have had to be pulled. They aren't big calves but they just aren't having a lot of luck on their own. Laney watched Scott pull one. Mostly she was very upset about Scott taking his cowboy hat off and setting it on the ground, but she was pretty excited to see the calf.
