9 weeks old

Laney is so much more expressive this week. She smiles all the time now especially when you talk to her. She also "laughs" with her mouth open when you laugh. She just sort of squints her eyes and makes a sound sort of like a cats meow...weird description but their sounds aren't the easiest to describe :) She is following sounds so much better and can follow my voice all around the room. When you talk to her she'll turn her head towards you and look until she finds your eyes. She loves investigating her hands and feet. When she's just hanging out she'll watch herself fold her hands and open and close her fingers. When she is on the potty she loves to scrape her feet down the other leg and take off any sock or bootie she may be wearing. Then she watches herself spreads her toes and kick her feet. She is doing so well with the potty! She now smiles when I ask her if she has to go potty, and her grunts crack me up! Now really all you have to do is just put her on the potty and she just goes, but I still grunt with her so she knows I know she needs to go. She sounds so funny though when she goes...it makes me laugh, she'll look at me and crack a huge smile at me laughing :) We just love her!

8 weeks already!

We had a big week this week! Uncle Mike, Aunt Stacey, and Vivi came to visit, and as you can see we had lots of fun pottying Laney! Even Stacey took her. We started trying the potty on Thursday and have only missed 4 poops...caught all the rest in the potty! It's really cute when Laney is done, she smiles! Vivi had a great time mooing like our cows! She took a ride on our ATV Mule out through the calves and got very excited, and sort of panted like a dog! Between the mooing and the panting she sounded like a little monkey :) We also took a trip to Colorado on St Patrick's Day, saw Mor Mor and Grandpa Tim, took a 4 generation picture with Grandpa Tim and Great Grandma Margaret, saw G G Pat (Great Grandma Pat), and YaYa (Grandma Debby). All in all a busy a full week. Laney is much more vocal these days, telling us little stories and making the sweetest noises. We just love her!

7 weeks, came too fast!

This last week we made our first big adventure out and about with Laney, we traveled to Longmont, Colorado for my cousin Amy's baby shower. Laney was such a good baby! She is such a great little traveler, she sleeps in her car seat for almost the whole time, just wakes up when she needs a change.
We also started the beginning stages of EC'ing. EC stands for elimination communication...or infant potty training. We have just started getting the cuing down when I know she's going, but I have a funny story. Sunday I thought I'd brave it and take her to the potty when she woke up from her nap because she typically goes when she wakes up. So she wakes up from her long nap and starts to fuss like she needs to go. So I undress her bottom half and hold her over the big toilet close to my body and cue her with a grunt, but she proceeds to scream her head off...I'm thinking "this isn't how it's supposed to go I don't think, maybe she's cold". So I change my mind and think maybe another time and I start to turn around and there she goes, peeing, so I quickly turn back around and try and get her over the toilet, pee goes everywhere, on the seat, on the floor, down my leg, but I did manage to get her on the toilet to catch a poop! Completely accidental! Well I thought maybe I'd just go nurse her and thought maybe the next time would go smoother. So after she finished nursing she started cuing me that she needed to poop again, so I just held her in my lap in her diaper and grunted with her, she squatted down and pushed out a huge poop. It was perfect timing and then she cracked the biggest smile at me as if she recognized that I helped her go! It was the cutest smile it made me cry, it was awesome! Funny the little pleasures in life :)

Growing like a weed!

Laney is growing so fast. We had her 1 month wellness checkup last wednesday and she has grown so much. She is 2 inches longer and 2 pounds heavier! 95 percentile for height and 75 percentile for weight. More pictures of shower water baby, but that is her happy place, and I just had to include the one of her adorable little butt! She loves to spread her toes in the water, stare at her dad, and crack little smiles! She is a very intense little child, wants things to happen immediately! Very similar to how she was in my belly, impatient and demanding, but so full of life and so cute! The picture of Sadie cracked me up, she was so exhausted after being up all night with Laney that she just flopped over on her back in the middle of the bed...oh the life of a corgi :) Laney also loves to cruise around the house with me holding her like a football, she just coos and then crashes. The last picture I took this morning, she was just hanging out on her boppy pillow, grabbed Scott's shirt which was laying by her, massaged it in her hand and out she went. We love being parents, but holy cats there is no preparing you for all that it offers, especially the good!
