What a change in Miss Shali these last few weeks. Some stats...She is mostly a happy baby. She hates the car but is getting better. We have tried EVERYTHING I swear, and she just dislikes the car. At first, every time, other than the ride home from the hosptial, she screamed her head off. I pretty much hated going anywhere with her. I tried pumping and letting her have a bottle handy that the girls could feed her, I tried a pacifier, I tried music, singing, talking, windows down, blankets, no blankets, cover her carseat, uncover her carseat...other than taking her out, she would scream. It made the short trips to and from school, dance, and soccer practice seem like an eternity. Kinda stressed me out. Sometimes the bottle helped, sometimes the covering the carseat worked, but nothing consistently would stop the screaming. The best I could figure out is that she didn't like being put in the carseat until she was good and ready. Adhering to any kind of schedule seemed to really put her off. I bought a singing musical aquarium that straps on her carseat and a mirror, those seem to improve it slightly. But I honestly think it's just her growing out of it a little at a time. She is now 12 pounds 6 ounces and 24 inches long. She LOVES the potty and laughs and coos and talks the whole time we are on it. It's becoming my favorite place too because she is so adorable. I started taking her on the potty at 6 weeks and only 1 time she didn't go. She pees and poops on it so well. She also loves the water and bath time. Her favorite spot in the whole world right now is the swing! And I think specifically THIS swing. She sleeps in there a lot. Laney and Tana used to fall asleep nursing all the time. The too also loved the swing and slept in it too. But I'm not sure they loved it as much as Shali does. Her longest stretches of sleep have been in the swing. She has slept up to 6 hours in it happy as a lark. It's the only way that Scott and I can rope. We take the swing down to the tack room, plug it in, and she just swings happily the whole time. Laney and Tana love her. Laney is getting so responsible and is a wonderful helper with Shali. Tana is a tiny bit rough still but is learning and she makes Shali laugh by just her funny faces and dances that she does for her.
Scott and I have been roping. It's a little rusty for me, but I'm improving everyday. Some days it feels like I never stopped, and other days it's much rougher. I've noticed a bit of upper back pain because of my milk jugs. HA! I'm going to have to tape them down or something so it doesn't hurt as bad.
Tana is growing up. She's writing her whole alphabet, starting to sound out words in her books, swims like fish, and loves riding her horse Snoopy. Can't believe she's 5 already. Laney is loving the 1st grade. Mrs. Neal is her teacher and she adores Laney. Laney is a straight A student, advanced reader, advanced math, and is a wonderful speller...unlike her mom :) Her best friend is Emma Monesmith, her favorite subject is art, and she thinks she's an adult...at least that's what she tells me. 6 3/4 going on 18. Such blessings these girls are. Love watching them grow and become who they are. I'm a lucky mom.
