Successful Surgery
Phew, we are over the big hump! Scott had his surgery yesterday morning (Friday) early, the experience was a bit nerve-racking but it went very quickly. He was out of surgery in less than an hour and a half, and the doctor was really pleased with how it went. He's up and walking with a walker right now, but is bearing complete weight on it with no pain! YAY! He's sore, but doing really good. Laney didn't like seeing him in the bed, she got pretty upset and started crying, but got to feeling better today when he was disconnected from his IV, oxygen, etc, no more tubes. Laney also made quick friends with Scott's nurse, she sweet talked her so much that the nurse ended up giving her her very own stethoscope! Laney asked better questions of the doctors and nurses than I did "how long will he be asleep?" "Will he feel anything?" "How big will his scar be?" "Will he have blood all over him?" "Can he go swimming?" She was so cute, and so serious! When he went on his PT walk she was telling him "I think you should keep going and make another lap." She helped me fill his ice machine that pumps ice water around his hip in that black thing he's got on. We told her what parts of him she could and couldn't touch or lean on, so she rubs his hands and kisses them, hugs him, kisses him, rubs up and down his arm and hugs it, and says "oh Dad, I love you so much." She is the sweetest thing! We took a break and went swimming at the pool both days. Uncle Volk came with us to hang out with us and the girls, but got the surprise of his life when he woke up from a nap on Friday to find Tana without her diaper on...yeah, he's not gonna agree to babysit anymore I'm afraid. But he survived. Mor Mor and Papa came down to see us today, the calls and prayers have been heard and are so appreciated. Thank you all for thinking of us and praying for us. We are headed home tomorrow afternoon sometime. The pics at the top make me laugh...Laney was pretending something, not exactly sure she knew, with the packing bubbles on her head ;) so funny. And she's riding by herself! She walks around and holds the reins on Sis and does a great job. The pictures of me roping are with Pastor Scott, I'm riding Blueduck and he's just doing so awesome. In fact, I roped in my very first roping last Saturday on him, I made it back on our third steer with one of my partners Colby...we didn't win anything but my first roping and Blueduck's first roping went really good.
