I really tried to get this posted before midnight but I was having Internet problems because of a lightning storm. Good news is, we got some rain, yay! This last Saturday we started getting our stuff down to Cheyenne Frontier Days. It's been a busy week. Slack was Wed and Thurs, and the first performance was today...well yesterday Sat. The girls have a great time playing in the dirt, making mud "marshmallows" and roasting them over a dirt campfire. The last pics were taken while we were sorting the calves for the next day. They found a couple pieces of metal welding rod (yes the kind they could poke an eye out with) mushed a mud ball around one end, and called it a marshmallow that they were roasting...too creative to make them stop. And they didn't even scratch themselves. Although, they did draw on themselves...Tana got a hold of a pen and drew all over herself one day we were down there. I left for a split second, came back and Laney says "Mom, Tana turned on the pen all by herself...good job Tana." Just what I was going to say.
Saw Uncle Travis, he roped. Laney was pretty funny, telling him stories and trying to convince him it was OK that he take the halter and lead rope off so she could ride by herself. She tells him "you can just take that off" all casual, and was a little surprised when he didn't fall for it. She tried telling him in several different ways..."You can take the lead rope off"..."can you give me my reins"..."You just untie that right there and it just comes off."
Also wanted to mention...our thoughts and prayers are with the victims of the Colorado shooting.
