She's finally here! Happy Black Friday
Well she is finally here! And so the story goes...Uncle Volk came up for Thanksgiving, we had a delicious feast with all the yummy fixins' and went to bed full and happy. I was awaken by contractions a little after 3 am and they were about 6-7 min apart. Within about 10 minutes they were at 2-3 minutes apart from then on out. After pacing about my room, and collecting my last minute things to put in my suitcase, I finally convinced myself this was indeed happening now and woke up Scott at 4:45am. He asked he if he had time to go make feed sheets...I wasn't sure so I told him to take a shower and I'd see how I felt. By the time he was out of the shower my contractions were getting stronger, so I told him that we should probably go. Good thing :) We checked into the ER at 6:10 am, they wheeled me over to labor and delivery, checked me and I was dilated to 6cm. Scott and I looked at each other and agreed it was a good thing that we had headed straight there. Shortly after getting there and hearing that number my contractions got pretty strong and I wanted an epidural. The nurses said I had to wait for my blood work to get back, but no one seemed to be rushing to my epidural rescue. Very shortly after that I wanted to push. They all started rushing around getting ready, the doctor showed up all scrubbed in and told me I was very close to having this baby. The thing that ran through my head was "I'm not getting an epidural???" And there I was pushing, three really good hard painful as you know what pushes later, there she was, my little baby girl. She had a muconium in utero so they quickly cut her cord and sucked her nose and mouth out. She weighed 8 pounds 11 ounces EXACTLY the same weight as Laney, 21 inches long, born at 7:11 am. We named her Tana Cathleen (sounds like Hannah with a 't'). She is such a sweet and mellow baby. Laney says "Tiny Tana Say woah", "Tana sister", "I'm big sister", and "Tana heart" when they listened to her heart. Papa and Mor Mor came up, and brought Laney a new baby doll whom she named Happy. Just in the couple days I was gone, Laney's words have become so much clearer. She knows all of her basic colors, she is counting to 8, and she sings the alphabet song in 3-letter random order "abc, nop, wx (which gets pernounced double x), now I, abc, now I sing with me".
